Getting Around
Local Transportation
There are several convenient options for getting from El Dorado International Airport to your hotel or the University. An official airport taxi is a convenient option and will generally cost upwards of 40,000 COP (~13 USD) depending on your destination, traffic, and applicable airport charges. Authorized taxis can be identified and verified through Bogotá’s official mobility system.
Ride-sharing apps such as Uber are also widely used in Bogotá, although the regulatory framework surrounding app-based rides in private vehicles remains unsettled. Private airport transfer services are another option, particularly for travellers who prefer to arrange transportation in advance.
We recommend arranging your transportation before leaving the airport, particularly if arriving late at night.

Weather
Bogotá is typically cool and rainy in late November, with daytime temperatures around 18–20°C (64–68°F) and cooler mornings and evenings around 8–10°C (46–50°F). November falls within Bogotá’s rainy season, so attendees should come prepared for frequent rain and changing weather, with a light jacket, layers, and an umbrella is recommended.
Safety
Bogotá is a welcoming and vibrant city, and the University of Los Andes and surrounding areas have security measures in place for students and visitors. As with any large city, we recommend staying aware of your surroundings, especially at night, and using registered taxis or ride-sharing services when traveling after dark.
For attendees staying in or visiting La Candelaria, we recommend exercising additional caution when walking outside the immediate university and CityU areas at night. During the day, the neighbourhood is lively and well visited, with many restaurants, cafés, museums, and cultural attractions to explore.
